Reliable logistics is the key issue for the successful operation of a heat generating installation that uses biomass as fuel. In order to give a rigid solution to this issue a GIS system will be developed, where all the available agrowaste sources will be visualized. The information from the GIS system will be used by special software which will indicate optimum trips for the transportation of agrowaste from the collection point to the end use installation, suggest storage locations, etc. All this information will help the end user to operate the installation at the lowest possible cost and will guaranty the maximum utilization of the available agrowastes. The aforementioned application is currently under development by CRES.
