Workshop in Novaci, 6-7 November 2019
The Municipality of Novaci successfully implemented a two-day workshop on the establishment of a Biomass Cluster with partners from the Republic of Greece in the framework of the AGROWCHEN project – Sustainable Agro-Waste Management for Rural Environment. The project is funded by the INTEREG IPA Border Cooperation Program between the two neighboring countries.
The main partner of the project is Deteka – a municipal heating company in the wider region of the city of Amindeo and two more Greek partners, from our side are the Municipality of Novaci and the Agency for Stimulation and Development of Agriculture based in Bitola.
The purpose of the meeting is to see to what extent the implementation of the project “Sustainable management of agro-waste for heating rural areas” and what is done with the budget available to partners.
The green waste from the canals and riverbeds of the Municipality of Novaci will be converted into biomass used for heating the kindergarten, clinic and upper floor of the Youth Center in Novaci.
For this purpose, the Municipality of Novaci has already procured the necessary machinery (tractor, trailer, baler, special hydraulic hand for cutting the vegetation) for cleaning and cutting the low vegetation from the riverbeds. It remains to procure a boiler specializing in biomass.
The budget of the municipality of Novaci is 216 thousand euros, and the budget of the Agency for Support and Development of Agriculture is about 50 thousand euros.
