Funds from the project “Sustainable management of agro-waste for rural heating” – Agrowchain from the program for cross-border cooperation with Greece procured a tractor Landini series 6-120 C and a tractor trailer Chelmak of 5 tons for towing and transporting biomass.

A hydraulic hand with a mowing and lifting basket, a front mower for biomass chopping, a biomass loading basket, a green waste baler and a boiler for central heating were also procured.

This mechanization is necessary for cleaning and cutting the low vegetation from the riverbeds and canals in order to use the green waste and its conversion into biomass which is used for heating the kindergarten Bambi in Novaci.

Reeds and other low-growing plants in rural areas cause serious environmental problems. Uncontrolled growth of this vegetation in canals and riverbeds is the cause of floods in Pelagonija, and farmers often get rid of this waste by burning and in addition to being dangerous, it also causes environmental pollution. We have approached an ecological way of heating, I hope it will be effective and in the future we will practice it for heating other public institutions. With this we will contribute to the protection of the environment, and at the same time we want to show the citizens that there are alternative sources of heating, we will clean the riverbeds and canals, we will protect ourselves from floods, we will heat and we will not pollute.

Within the project aGROWchain, the Municipality of Novaci organized a workshop to establish a biomass CLUST in our country using the experiences of our partners from Greece and by the end of the project we will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with several institutions and organizations.

In addition to the equipment, several studies were made for the needs of the project with which we obtained data on the network of canals, storm sewers, riverbeds, etc. on the territory of the municipality of Novaci.

The Municipality of Novaci within the Agrowchain project together with its partners at the beginning of last year took part in the fair for agricultural mechanization Agrotica which is held in Thessaloniki, Greece. type of equipment, specification, purpose and manner of use.

Partners in the project from the Macedonian side are NEA and from the Greek Detepa municipal central heating company from Amindeo, CRES and CLUBE. The project initially lasted 24 months, started in June 2018 and was supposed to end in May 2020, but due to the situation with Kobid 19 it was extended until May this year. The total amount for all partners is 669 thousand euros. The budget of the municipality of Novaci is 216 thousand euros. The project “Management of agro-waste for heating in rural areas” is supported by the Interreg program for cross-border cooperation.
